UK RELEASES £4.2M IBORI LOOT TO NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT

The Federal Government has received the £4.2m funds part of the looted funds traced to former Governor of Delta State James Onanefe Ibori.


Now with this latest development, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, disclosed that the money was credited into the designated Federal Government account with the naira equivalent value of the amount as of May 10, 2021.


Malami who spoke in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity Relations, Dr. Umar Gwandu, said “the development was a demonstration of the recognition of reputation Nigeria earns through records of management of recovered stolen funds in the execution of public oriented projects.”


Earlier, the AGF had signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the repatriation of the loot, on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
