Troops Eliminate Top Boko Haram Commanders in Bama Airstrikes

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, with support from the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Air Force, have eliminated several high-ranking Boko Haram commanders during coordinated air operations in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the precision airstrikes were carried out on December 25, 2025, following credible human intelligence on the movement of insurgents within the area. The initial strike reportedly resulted in the killing of at least 10 Boko Haram fighters, including identified commanders Abul Kaka, Ibn Mu’azu, Abu Muhammad, Ba Alhaji, Bakura, Modu, Abu Hassan, Kaka Alai, Abba Yakariye, and Bamusa. Another terrorist, identified as Ubaida, was said to have sustained critical injuries during the operation.

Sources further disclosed that a follow-up airstrike by Nigerian Air Force assets led to the immediate elimination of three additional terrorists. Security officials confirmed that most of those neutralised were loyalists of Bafu, a notorious Boko Haram commander active in the Bama axis. Operational assessments indicate that the strikes have significantly weakened the group’s fighting strength in the area, particularly units operating under Bafu’s command.

While the security situation in Bama is currently described as calm, sources cautioned that it remains unpredictable due to the dynamic nature of insurgent activities in the region.
