In a bid to ensure a secure and peaceful yuletide season across the Joint Operations Area, troops of 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN have intensified intelligence-driven operations, achieving significant successes, including the apprehension of gunrunners and the recovery of arms and ammunition.
On December 18, 2024, troops under Operation GOLDEN PEACE conducted a successful raid on a criminal hideout near the Plateau-Taraba border. The operation led to the recovery of an AK-47 assault rifle, an AK-47 magazine, and a stockpile of ammunition. Efforts are ongoing to pursue and neutralize the fleeing suspects.
On December 20, 2024, troops conducted a precision operation at the White House Hotel in Bokkos Town, located in the Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State. During the sting operation, two notorious gunrunners, 31-year-old Kenneth Mayas and 60-year-old Bulus Yilfo, were arrested while attempting to purchase an AK-47 rifle for N1,450,000. The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation and have provided valuable information to aid further investigations and operations targeting other members of their criminal network.
3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding lives and property throughout the yuletide season and beyond. Members of the public are encouraged to support security agencies by providing timely and accurate intelligence to combat criminal activities effectively.
