Troops of 6 Brigade Neutralise Two Suspected Bandits, Recover AK-47 Rifle in Taraba
Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army (NA)/Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have neutralised two suspected armed bandits during a coordinated tactical operation in Taraba State.
The operation, which took place on 24 May 2026, followed credible intelligence reports of gunshots heard in a forested area near the “Welcome to Donga” signpost in Akate District, Donga Local Government Area of the state.
Acting on the intelligence, troops swiftly mobilised to the location and conducted a tactical raid. On arrival, they made contact with suspected armed assailants, resulting in a gun duel during which two of the suspects were neutralised.
Items recovered from the scene include one AK-47 rifle, five rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two AK-47 magazines, two mobile phones, and other personal belongings.
The Commander, 6 Brigade NA/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, commended the troops for their professionalism and swift response. He charged them to sustain the operational momentum in line with the directive of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) to eliminate criminal elements across the state.
He further affirmed that the reward and sanction policy would be strictly applied to personnel involved in the operation, while reassuring residents of Taraba State of the Brigade’s continued commitment to sustained pressure on criminal elements until peace and security are fully restored.
The Brigade also reiterated its resolve to maintain ongoing operations aimed at flushing out criminals and ensuring lasting security across the state.
