EDO GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION: POLICE ARREST TWO SUSPECTED THUGS, SEIZE ILLEGAL ARMS

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force has made a significant breakthrough in preventing electoral violence in Edo State by arresting two suspected political thugs, Edwin Obanor, 43, and Audu Tajudeen, 41, during overnight raids. The arrests occurred just hours before the governorship election.

Acting on a tip-off, police operatives apprehended Obanor, leader of an armed group, at Oredo Ward 4 around 9 pm, and Tajudeen in Igara Akoko, Edo. Searches revealed three locally fabricated pistols on Obanor and one locally-made gun on Tajudeen.

This operation is part of the police's efforts to tackle electoral violence and ensure a peaceful election process. The Edo State Police Command has launched a comprehensive operation to recover illegal arms and ammunition in the state ahead of the election.
