UPDATE: IGHALO SETS TO SIGN NEW DEAL

Odion Ighalo is set to sign a new deal with Shanghai Shenua.

According to Sky Sports News, this allows him remain at Manchester United till next January.

The former Watford striker joined on transfer day deadline in January, and scored four goals in eight appearances for the English giants before the EPL campaign was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The striker is due to return to China at the end of May, but the possible resumption of the 2019/20 Premier League season has led to talks of the agreement being extended.

Meanwhile, border restrictions may prevent Ighalo from returning to China in time for the start of the new season in June. If he can't return, the club will look to bring in a temporary replacement

Shanghai is now open to allowing Ighalo remain with Manchester United until next January, although he is expected to sign a new deal with the Chinese club.

Ighalo’s existing contract with the Chinese club is due to expire in December 2022.

According to Sky Sports; the offer on the table is worth a mouth-watering £400,000 a week and would run until December 2024.
