Two Officers Killed in Borno Police Station Attack, IGP Pledges Justice

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has condemned the recent attack on the Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters in Borno State, which claimed the lives of two officers. The tragic incident occurred on January 9, 2025, at approximately 12:10 a.m., resulting in the deaths of Inspector Bartholomew Kalawa and Corporal Mustapha Huzaifat.


In a statement, the IGP expressed his deep condolences to the bereaved families, assuring them that the sacrifice of the fallen officers would not be forgotten. He directed that all benefits and entitlements of the deceased officers be promptly processed and paid to their families.


The IGP has ordered an immediate and comprehensive clampdown on the perpetrators, emphasizing that no individual involved in the attack will evade justice. To this end, the Zone 15 Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, fdc, has been instructed to deploy adequate resources and collaborate with other security agencies to track down and bring the attackers to justice.


As investigations continue, the IGP reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to maintaining security and holding accountable those who threaten peace and safety across the country.
