Unrest: SOLDIERS SHOOT AND KILL MOTORIST IN WARRI
Soldiers deployed to enforce the sit-at home directive at a checkpoint at Jeddo Junction, near Warri Refinery opened fire and killed a young man identified as Joseph Pessu.
The incident which happened in the morning of Thursday, 2nd April 2020, disrupted public peace as members of the public in their numbers protested against the killing and attacked the soldiers, seizing their rifles.
According to eye witness reports, the deceased did not stop after soldiers flagged him to stop, following which the soldiers shot at his vehicle and injured him.
He then came out of the vehicle and was running , before the soldiers shot at and killed him. According to witnesses, he was going to see his family at the town behind Refinery.
The attack and reprisal happened a few meters away from an Army formation.
