11 Injured in Multiple Accidents on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) has confirmed that 11 individuals sustained varying degrees of injuries following multiple accidents along the Interchange section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday.

According to a statement by TRACE spokesman Babatunde Akinbiyi, the accidents occurred around 7:30 a.m. The crash involved a Mazda bus, a Mack truck, and a Toyota Hiace bus.

Sequence of Events

Akinbiyi explained that the collision began when a Mazda bus crashed into a truck attempting to manoeuvre into the premises of a private company in the area.

“The driver of the Mack truck was trying to enter the Cway company premises. Due to the impatience and excessive speed of the Mazda bus, it collided with the truck. A Toyota Hiace bus following behind also lost control and became involved in the crash,” he said.

An eyewitness confirmed that excessive speed and loss of control contributed to the chain reaction.

Casualties

  • Total People Involved: 21 (12 adult males, 9 adult females)
  • Injured: 11 (8 males, 3 females)

The injured victims were promptly taken to Idera Hospital in Shagamu by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for medical treatment.

TRACE continues to urge drivers to exercise caution, maintain safe speeds, and avoid impatience to prevent similar incidents.
