Dorcas James is a seasoned Human Resources practitioner with about two decades of hands-on experience in handling and proffering solutions to Human Resource, Corporate Services and Strategic Business Improvement and Management Matters. She is a Certified Management Consultant/Trainer and a Strategic Performance expert, helping individuals and organisations to institute performance structures that are sustainable.

Dorcas James is experienced in the strategic Growth of Institutes, with her experience at the Executive level. An experienced and highly innovative Human Resources practitioner, trainer and consultant greatly polished by on-the-job experience, training, seminars and conferences attended. This is backed up with relevant educational qualifications, and membership of various relevant professional bodies. She is certified in Quality management systems, which help to build and maintain quality, control and competitive edge.


She is a result-oriented, innovative and strategic manager with several years experience spanning over the IT, Manufacturing, Energy,  Real Estate, Retail and service industries as well as real estate/construction and finance sectors, where she has led major company change at senior management level.

She has effectively handled and delivered on HR and management roles within and outside Nigeria. She has developed her strength in strategic Human Resources areas, covering Performance management, balanced scorecard management, learning and development, Talent management and retention, policy and process development, recruitment and executive search, expatriate management, HR and Admin Department set up and management, succession planning, conflict management, Human Resource planning, and corporate event planning, among others.

She has successfully set up and restructured Human Resources Departments and other functional departments for various organizations.

Her passion for strategic partnership has over the years seen her being a strong player in company expansion and growth of organisations. Under her management, she has contributed and actively participated in company significant growth and expansion of operations to include establishing offices outside Lagos and other African countries. 


This resulted in her being enlisted as a Director for Liberia and Sierra Leone offices. She is experienced in supporting company registration and establishment in other African countries including Uganda, Benin Republic; to mention a few; She has also played an active part in senior management teams to bring about a level of increased performance and the expansion resulting in increased production and introducing other desired products that have served as a source of increased revenue and visibility.


She has actively participated and played strategic roles at senior management level to see to transformation from single company to Group, with multiple subsidiaries and introduction of world-class premium and competitive products.


Prior to her rise to the position of Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer, she has served at the helm of leadership for HR, Admin and Corporate Services functions of different organizations, serving at different capacities with a steady and fast climb on the ladder due to outstanding performance, and functioned at  General Manager levels for different organisations.


She has consulted for different organizations and individuals on different management areas and trained various levels of staff up to Board level in the private and public sectors.


She seats on the board of some organizations, including being a  Co- Founder, Director and Secretary to the Council and Board of Trustees of Association of Corporate Governance Professionals of Nigeria. She is also the Founder/Chairman of Anthrop Management, a Human Resource and Management Consultancy Company that help organisations with their recruitment and other business needs. She serves at the Executive committee levels for NGO  several organisations,

She is a graduate of Geography From the University of Ilorin and also holds a masters degree in Geography ( with specialization in Transportation) and planning, from the University of Ibadan. In addition, she holds a masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Ilorin. She holds a Professional Diploma in Human Resources from the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria. She also holds a diploma from two religious bodies, having gone through the required courses. She is also a Centre For Management Development ( CMD ) accredited Trainer.


She is a member of various professional bodies such as Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), where she also holds the HR practitioners’ license, Nigerian Institute for Training and Development (NITAD), Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), a Fellow of Association of Corporate Governance Professionals of Nigeria. She has been a member of both the Nigeria South Africa Chamber of commerce and the Nigeria British Chamber of commerce, where she had served as management representative at different times. She is also a member of the Women in Logistics and Transport Nigeria (WILAT Nigeria) and a member of Women in Maritime Africa where she Functions in the Executive Committee as the Secretary-General to the Nigerian chapter, driving major events and innovations in the sector. She is a member of the Women International Shipping and Trading Association, among others.


She has attended several Executive Management, Human Resource Management, General management, and IT Trainings, Conferences and Seminars within and outside Nigeria. She Was Part Of The Conference On Introduction Of Mobile Banking In Accra Ghana. Several management, executive and strategic training which she has attended at different times have shaped and positioned her for the current level of effectiveness.


Dorcas James is a certified ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems auditor, having taken part in ISO 9001:2008 implementation project as a management representative. This helps to add value to organisations in terms of standardization of processes for organisational sustainability.


She has functioned in many committees in different organizations and professional Associations. Some of the committees she has actively functioned in at different times include:

Process development and improvement committee, HSE committee, at different times, where she served as the chairman of the committee on each occasion, steering committee and implementation committee for ISO 9001:2008, finance committee for personnel practitioners consultative association, as the chairman of the committee, auditor for the PPCA, Programme committee, lecture luncheon planning committee, international branch set up committee, business development committee, the electoral committee for Lagos state branch of Chartered Institute of personnel practitioners’ personnel practitioners consultative association.


Some other committees served in include: Executive committee for management for group, member of the Annual Trainers committee for NITAD and chairman of publicity subcommittee of the conference planning committee, Championed the Pioneering of Women in Governance Summit and National Corporate Governance Conference among others, Government Relations Committee, Planning and Development and Processes and Procedures committee of different organisations, among others.

She has won awards to her credit, in recognition of some of her exemplary performance.

She has developed keen passion for individual and organizational performances using global metrics of performance management. She also has passion for human safety and often performs voluntary roles as Special Marshal of FRSC of Nigeria under the Lagos State Sector.

She loves reading, researching and solving problems and is happily married with lovely children.
