President Tinubu Congratulates Oyebanji on Re-Election, Urges Inclusive Governance

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, on his victory in Saturday's governorship election, describing the outcome as a reflection of the confidence reposed in him by the people of the state.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President commended residents of Ekiti State for conducting themselves peacefully throughout the electoral process and praised security agencies for maintaining law and order.

President Tinubu also charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to sustain efforts aimed at delivering peaceful, credible, free and fair elections ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August and the 2027 general elections.

According to the President, Governor Oyebanji's victory makes him the first governor in Ekiti State's history to secure consecutive electoral victories and a renewed mandate from the electorate.

Tinubu noted that the governor's first term witnessed notable achievements in infrastructure development, agriculture, youth empowerment, education, healthcare, and rural development under the BAO agenda, adding that the election outcome represents a vote of confidence in continuity and people-oriented governance.

He urged the governor to remain magnanimous in victory and ensure that all segments of the state are carried along as he builds on the accomplishments of his first administration over the next four years.

The President also praised other candidates who participated in the election, describing their involvement as a demonstration of democratic values, and called on them to support the governor in advancing the development of the state.

Tinubu further reaffirmed the commitment of the Federal Government to working closely with the Ekiti State Government to deliver more dividends of democracy and advance the Renewed Hope Agenda across the country.

He prayed for wisdom, strength, and good health for Governor Oyebanji as he continues to serve the people of Ekiti State.
