Ogun State Government to Begin Tolling on Epe-Mojoda-Ijebu-Ode Expressway from March 24
The Ogun State Government has announced that tolling operations on the 14.7km Epe-Mojoda-Ijebu-Ode Expressway will commence on March 24.
This was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday by Hon. Dapo Oduwole, the Director-General of the Office of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP).
According to the statement, the tolling system is aimed at ensuring sustainable road maintenance, efficient operations, and enhanced road safety.
Oduwole highlighted that the expressway is a strategic economic corridor between Lagos and Ogun State, which made its timely completion a priority for the government.
He assured the public that necessary amenities have been provided, making the road one of the best in the country, with unhindered and comfortable access for users.
“Prince Dapo Abiodun, upon assuming office and designing an effective and efficient transport system to boost the state’s microeconomy, recognized the economic importance of the Epe-Mojoda-Ijebu-Ode Expressway,” Oduwole stated.
He explained that the government adopted a public-private partnership (PPP) model for the management of the expressway, including toll collection.
Oduwole noted that the tolling operations were delayed since 2021 to provide relief to residents and road users, but emphasized the need to balance the interests of the people and the economic considerations of the investors.
“After nearly four years of free access, it has become necessary to commence tolling operations to ensure the sustainability and upkeep of the road infrastructure,” he added.
He also announced exemptions from tolling obligations for certain categories of vehicles, including:
- Emergency response vehicles (ambulances, fire service, and patrol vehicles)
- Government-owned security vehicles
- Official vehicles of the Ogun State Government
- Any other vehicles as determined by the state government
The government urged all road users to comply with the tolling regulations, warning that enforcement measures will be implemented without fear or favor.
