MAN PLEADS WITH COURT TO DISSOLVE SEVEN-YEAR MARRIAGE WITH HIS WIFE WHO FREQUENTLY BEATS HIM
Gbade Olaniyi, an electronic trader, has pleaded with a customary court in Ibadan to dissolve his seven-year marriage with his wife, whom he claims frequently beats him.
Testifying before the court on Wednesday, Olaniyi alleged; "my wife has emasculated me. She has sent my friends and family away."
He revealed that anytime they had a minor misunderstanding, she always resorts to slapping him.
Olaniyi said she she recently slapped him on Sunday, August 2nd, 2020, and tore his skin with her fingernails.
"She said she did it because I did not tell her where I went when she asked me. She has neglected her role as a wife because she leaves home for days and even months for no reason," he said.
His wife, Olubunmi, who consented to the divorce filed by Olaniyi, explained why she slapped him.
She told the court her husband has turned her into a pauper and their children do not have good clothes to wear.
"Sometimes I leave the home because he never took care of me during pregnancy. I slapped him because he sleeps with a certain young girl named shukurat in our house and the secret leaked to me.
"I also have evidence of the love messages and credit cards sent by my husband to the girl and how they have been going to the hotel together."
Henry Agbaje, the court's president, ordered the to bring their relatives, and adjourned the case until August 19th for judgement.
