INSECURITY: NIGERIANS DON'T NEED PERMISSION TO LIVE IN ONDO FORESTS- BAUCHI GOVERNOR
The Governor of Bauchi state, Bala Mohammed on Friday said Nigerians do not need the permission of any Governor to reside anywhere in the country, including the forests in the South-West states.
Governor Mohammed said this during the Sunrise Daily Program on Channels TV.
Quoting section 41 of the Nigerian constitution, Mohammed said citizens are free to choose to live and settle anywhere.
“Land is in the hands of the state and federal governments in trust but Nigerians don’t need the permission of governors or the federal government to settle everywhere. You don’t need the permission of the governor of Bauchi or the governor of Ondo to be in the forests of Ondo if you choose to live in the forests because, under Section 41 of the constitution, you are free to settle anywhere.”
Recall Governor Rotimi Akeredolu ordered herdsmen out of Ondo forest reserves and register with the state government to curb the increased rate of nefarious activities allegedly perpetuated by killer herdsmen.

Recently, the Bauchi state governor was in the news for saying herdsmen have the right to carry AK-47 rifles for self-protection.
While speaking on Friday, Governor Mohammed said he used AK-47 as a "figure of speech" to say the herdsmen are left with no option than to protect themselves.
Governor Mohammed said "The Fulani man is so exposed, dehumanised and demonised. He is being seen as a bandit and so anywhere he goes, his commonwealth which I call his cows are being taken and rustled and sometimes they are fined beyond your imagination and then he has no option than to protect himself."
