police raid suspected baby factory in Ogun, rescue pregnant women and children
Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command has uncovered a suspected baby factory in Abaren Village, Mowe, rescuing two pregnant women and four children while arresting six suspects, including a nurse.
The operation was carried out on August 24, following intelligence received by the Command. The rescued pregnant women were identified as 23-year-old Ilesanmi Foluke, who was seven months pregnant, and 20-year-old Ejekwa Melody, who was eight months pregnant.
Further investigation led police operatives to a hospital in the Mowe area, where they discovered that Blessing Bright Effiong had recently delivered a baby boy.
However, the newborn was reportedly missing and could not be accounted for, leading to the arrest of the attending nurse.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and efforts to locate the missing baby.
