WORLD BANK APPROVES $114M FOR NIGERIA’S COVID-19 RESPONSE

The World Bank has approved a sum of $114 million to help Nigeria tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

In a Friday statement issued by the World Bank’s Director for Nigeria, Shubham Chaudhuri, the fund comes in the form of a $100 million loan and $14 million grant to be shared among the 36 States of the Federation and for the procurement of medical equipment, tests and medicine.

“Nigeria has ramped up its efforts to contain the COVID-19 outbreak, but more needs to done at the state level, which are at the front line of the response,” the statement read.

 

According to the NCDC, as of Sunday, August 9, Nigeria has recorded 46,577 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 945 deaths.
