A gas explosion has occurred in the Baruwa area of the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State, leaving at least one dead and several houses destroyed.
The cause of the explosion can not be determined at the moment but several sources say the fire originated from a gas plant located in the area.
Fire service personnel have been immediately deployed to the scene of the incident.
The explosion which began at about 5 am on Thursday, October 8, is the second gas explosion to occur in the State in the period of two weeks.
On September 24, Eon Intelligence reported a gas tanker explosion at the Iju Ishaga area of Lagos State which left at least one person dead and several properties destroyed.
The incessant cases of gas explosions have begun raising questions on the legality of gas stations in residential areas.
