VIOLENCE ERUPTS IN GOMBE OVER CHIEFTAINCY TITLE IN BILLIRI, PRESIDENCY REACTS
At least three persons have lost their lives in Billiri, Gombe state following violent protests over a chieftaincy title.

Eons Intelligence gathered that following the demise of the late Mai Tangle, Dr Abdul Buba Maisharu in January, kingmakers carried out an election to determine his successor.
Sources say Dr Musa Maiyamba secured 5 out of 9 votes while the other contenders, Ahmad Magaji and Mr Danladi secured 2 votes each.
Violence, however, erupted when rumours filtered out that the Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya has appointed someone else as the Mai Tangle.

On Friday, Governor Yahaya imposed a 24-hour curfew on Billiri to restore law and order.
In a statewide broadcast on Saturday, Governor Yahaya stressed that his administration did not announce anyone as the new Mai Tangle.
Governor Yahaya said the selection of a new Mai Tangle would remain suspended until normalcy returns to the area.
President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed great shock and deep concern over the eruption of violence in Gombe state arising from the Billiri chieftaincy title.
In a statement released by Garba Shehu, the President's Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Buhari appealed to both sides to sheath their swords.
