THERE WILL BE 'NO MORE WAR ON THIS EARTH' THANKS TO NORTH KOREA'S NUCLEAR WEAPONS- KIM JONG UN

North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un, has said he believes the country's nuclear arsenal would guarantee the safety of its citizens and the world in general as his people would no longer need to go to war, according to North Korean state media.

Kim Jong Un said this on Monday, 27 while speaking to a group of veterans on the 67th anniversary of the armistice that effectively ended the Korean War.

"With our reliable and effective self-defensive nuclear deterrent, there will be no more war on this earth, and our country's safety and future will be secured forever," the North Korean leader said in a speech that was reported by KCNA.

Kim's speech shows how difficult it would be to strike a deal that sees Pyongyang give up a program it evidently views as pertinent to its survival.

North Korea has spent decades developing its armoury. As a result, the country became internationally isolated and subject to multiple United Nations Security Council sanctions.

Nuclear talks between Kim and US President Donald Trump in Singapore did not make any tangible progress in June 2018.

Although North Korea has hinted its willingness to open to another summit between Trump and Kim, its success appears to be dim.

Earlier this month, Kim Yo Jong, the North Korean leader's sister said the US would need to adopt a new negotiating strategy if North Korea were to agree to a future meeting between Trump and Kim.

She added that the parameters of negotiations between the two countries had to change from focusing on trading denuclearization for sanctions relief to focus on the "withdrawal of (US) hostility" to North Korea.
