151 Senior Police Officers Face Disciplinary Panel Over Alleged Misconduct

In a renewed effort to strengthen internal accountability and uphold professional standards, the Nigeria Police Force has commenced disciplinary proceedings against 151 senior officers over various allegations of misconduct and ethical violations.

The officers, drawn from commands and formations across the country, are currently appearing before the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) in Abuja. The review process began on Monday, July 14, and will run through Friday, July 25, 2025, at the IGP Smart Conference Hall, Force Headquarters.

The FDC is the internal mechanism responsible for reviewing alleged breaches involving officers from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and above. Each case will be carefully examined in accordance with police regulations, with final recommendations to be forwarded to the Police Service Commission.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has reiterated the Force’s zero-tolerance stance on indiscipline. He stressed that no officer will be shielded from accountability, regardless of rank or posting.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains firmly committed to integrity, professionalism, and public trust,” IGP Egbetokun said. “This process reflects our resolve to maintain a disciplined, transparent, and service-oriented institution.”

The disciplinary hearings are part of broader reforms aimed at restoring public confidence in the police and ensuring strict adherence to the rule of law within the Force.
