DELTA POLICE ARREST SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS, RECOVER FIREARMS

The operatives of the Delta State Police Command, on 18/07/2024 at about 09:30 hours, conducted a covert intelligence raid on three different syndicates of suspected armed robbers and cultists at various locations in Oghara Town, Ethiope East Local Government Area (LGA), Delta State.


Five suspects were arrested: Ochuko Joel Ofoye, a 35-year-old male from Jeddo Community in Okpe LGA, Delta State, a member of the Juris Confraternity; and Michael Anwul, a 29-year-old male from Alisimie Community, Agbor, in Ika South LGA, Delta State, also a member of the Juris Confraternity and custodian of arms. In Anwul's possession, two AK-47 magazines and twenty-nine rounds of live ammunition were recovered.


Other suspects include Great Ojareri, a 35-year-old male from Oghareki Community in Ethiope West LGA, Oghara, Delta State, a member of the Eiye Confraternity and also a custodian of arms; Innocent Esefeta, a 31-year-old male from Efisere Community in Ughelli North LGA, Delta State, resident behind Ibori Road, Oghara, Delta State. Investigations revealed that Esefeta is the owner of the recovered Beretta pistol. Lastly, Ogaga Ebuke, a 27-year-old male from Okpe Community in Orerokpe LGA, Delta State, a resident of Western Delta Road in Oghara, Delta State, and a member of the Juris Confraternity, was found with a locally made pistol and one live cartridge concealed in a shoe in his residence.


The suspects are in police custody and investigations are ongoing.
