Delta State Police Arrest Suspected Armed Robber, Foil Hostel Robbery, Recover Multiple Firearms and Ammunition
The Delta State Police Command has made significant strides in tackling crime with multiple arrests and the recovery of various firearms and ammunition across the state. On February 19, 2026, operatives from the Command’s Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) arrested 25-year-old Dafiaga Timothy from Effurun Community, Uvwie LGA. Timothy, suspected to be part of a criminal syndicate terrorizing the Warri–Sapele Road, led the police to a concealed armoury along the Sapele-Warri Road. There, police recovered a locally made long gun, a cut-to-size gun, a fabricated Beretta pistol, five rounds of live ammunition, ten cartridges, and a dagger.
In a separate operation on February 18, 2026, operatives in Warri intercepted a blue tricycle with three occupants. While two of them fled, the driver, Aliyu Sabo, was arrested. A search revealed a locally fabricated pistol, one live and one expended cartridge, two mobile phones, and other items. Sabo is currently in custody, and efforts are underway to track down his accomplices.
On the same day, the police foiled a robbery attempt at Texas Lodge Hostel in Agbor. When an Anti-Crime Patrol team arrived, the suspects fled, abandoning a locally fabricated pistol, an expended cartridge, and stolen items, including mobile phones and a power bank. The police have launched an operation to apprehend the fleeing criminals.
Delta State Police Commissioner, CP Aina Adesola, commended the officers for their professionalism and vigilance. He emphasized the Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks, recovering illegal firearms, and ensuring the safety of the public.
