INSECURITY: PRAYERS WITHOUT SELF-DEFENSE IS INEFFECTIVE, NIGERIANS ADVISED

Security experts have advised Christians to go beyond prayers and explore their rights to self-defense in tackling insecurity in the country.

The stakeholders made this call during the inauguration of the Africa Kingdom Business Forum Institute (AKBF-I) by the Africa Kingdom Business Forum (AKBF) in Abuja over the weekend.

In his keynote address at the inauguration, former Chief of Defence Research and Development of the Nigerian Army and the Ex-Commander of Special Task Force (STF) Operation Safe Haven, in Plateau State, Major Gen. Henry Ayoola (rtd) encouraged an “all citizens approach” to end insecurity and other challenges bedeviling the country.

While the Chairman of the occasion and the Continental Chairman Africa Kingdom Business Forum (AKBF), Engr. Steve Olumuyina and Barr. Emeka Nwankpa respectively emphasized that prayers alone will not suffice in dealing with the myriads of the country’s challenges. Major-General Henry Ayoola on the other hand advised Nigerians to defend themselves, adding that the country is in the final push to actualize a new Nigeria.

Dr. Sam Amadi, who is a visiting Professor at the Emerald Energy Institute at the University of Port Harcourt, and former Head of Department of International Law and Jurisprudence at Baze University, Abuja harped on the need to redefine the process through which leaders emerge in the country.

According to Maj. Gen Ayoola, “Yes, the security challenges! Well, one thing to say upfront is that our problems, not only security, simply put, are self-inflicted problems.
