IPOB RESPONSIBLE FOR THE KILLING OF SECURITY OPERATIVES IN CROSS RIVER- OPERATION AKPAKWU

Intelligence reveals that members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) are responsible for the attack and killing of some security personnel in Obubra Local Government Area and Idundu Bridge Head in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State.


The commander of Operation Akpakwu, a security outfit set up by Governor Ben Ayade disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday. 


Recall Eons Intelligence reported that gunmen killed 6 police officers on duty and carted away their weapons in the early hours of Wednesday.

The security outfit, therefore, charged all citizens of Cross River to be extra vigilant and report all strange movement and strange faces to security officials.

The Cross River State Government condemns in the strongest terms, the recent killing of some security personnel in Obubra Local Government Area and Idundu Bridge Head in Akpabuyo Local Government Area.


Based on intelligence at government’s disposal, the killings are the handiwork of suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra ((IPOB), cultists and armed robbers who have infiltrated the state in recent days and hiding in our local communities.


This development is completely unacceptable to government. Therefore, Government is doing everything possible to fish out the perpetrators and bring them to book.


The general public especially, Village Heads, Clan Heads, other Traditional Rulers, youth leaders, Community leaders, Vigilante groups and Hunters are hereby enjoined to be very vigilant in their respective communities and report any strange movements to government.


Any community found to be willingly harbouring the criminals will be made to face the wrath of the law.


To this effect, any strange face and movement in every locality including farmlands in the state, should be reported to the nearest security agency including Operation Akpakwu. 


Every visitor must be identified and his identity and business reported to the nearest security agency.


The public is enjoined to do this to aid security agencies to effectively secure the state for the good of all.
