POLICE ARREST MEMBERS OF NIGERIA-NIGER TRANSNATIONAL KIDNAP SYNDICATE
The Nigeria Police Command has arrested two members of a transnational kidnap syndicate that operates in Nigeria and the Republic of Niger.
The arrested suspects are part of a 15-man criminal gang involved in the kidnap of an American Citizen, Philippe Nathan Walton at his farm in Masalata Village, Republic of Niger on October 28, 2020.
The American has since been rescued by the US government in collaboration with Nigerian and Nigerien intelligence forces.
The arrested suspects identified as Aliyu Abdullahi, 21, popularly known as Mallam and Aliyu Umaru, 23, also known as Kwatte Kusu were arrested on November 25, 2020.

Police revealed that intelligence reports gathered indicates that the kidnap gang are planning more abductions in retaliation for the death of their members- 4 Nigeriens and 2 Nigerians who died during the rescue operations of Philippe Walton.
In a statement released by the Police Force spokesperson, DCP Frank Mbah, disclosed that the Investigations are ongoing and the arrested suspects would be charged to court.
He also added that the IGP is working on deepening intelligence collaborations with ECOWAS member countries.
"The Inspector General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM, mni is working in concert with other members of the West African Police Chiefs Organization (WAPCO) to deepen intelligence sharing amongst security agencies in the ECOWAS sub-region and strengthen security along the international borders of member States," the Police Public Relations Officer DCP Frank MBA disclosed in a statement
