Police Foil Multiple Bandit Attacks, Rescue 207 Abducted Children in Nationwide Operations

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has recorded significant achievements in its ongoing efforts to combat crime across the country through intelligence-led operations. In a series of operations conducted on January 18, 2025, police operatives successfully foiled multiple bandit attacks, neutralized threats, and intensified efforts against human trafficking, rescuing 207 abducted children.

In Kogi State, police operatives attached to the state command acted on intelligence reports of a planned attack by armed bandits holding a strategic meeting in a forest in Budon. Upon mobilization and deployment to the scene, the operatives engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, overpowering them. One bandit was neutralized, and four others were arrested. The operatives also recovered one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, 30 rounds of live ammunition, and two motorcycles.

Similarly, in Katsina State, police operatives responded to a distress call from Ruwan Doruwa Village, Dutsinma Local Government Area (LGA), where suspected armed bandits were preparing to launch an attack. Security forces swiftly mobilized and intercepted the assailants, engaging them in combat. Seven bandits were neutralized, while others fled, abandoning 109 livestock believed to have been rustled.

In a separate development, the police intensified their fight against human trafficking, leading to the successful rescue of over 207 abducted children nationwide. A major breakthrough was recorded in Ondo State, where police operatives acting on intelligence regarding a missing child in Okuta Elerin-Nla, Akure, uncovered a syndicate involved in child abduction and trafficking. Three suspects—identified as Abosede Olanipekun (female), Lukman Isiaka (male), and Sabira Izuorah (female)—were apprehended, and 14 children aged between one week and seven years were rescued.

These successes mark a significant blow to criminal elements threatening the nation’s security and underscore the NPF's commitment to enhancing public safety. The police reaffirm their resolve to combat criminal activities, protect lives and property, and bring offenders to justice.

The Force urges citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies in the ongoing efforts to ensure peace and security across the country.
