POLICE NAB EIGHT-MAN SYNDICATE KNOWN FOR HIJACKING VEHICLES IN ONDO STATE

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested an eight-man syndicate known for hijacking articulated vehicles loaded with assorted goods/products.

The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Bolaji Salami, made the disclosure while parading the men at the state Police Command Headquarters on Wednesday, June 23.

The Police Boss stated that suspects who have been operating along Ijebu-Ode/Ore/Benin Highway were arrested on Thursday, June 10.

According to Salami, the suspects inflict injuries on their victims before fleeing with whatever products they steal from the vehicle, adding that they often make use of cutlasses and daggers during their attack.

He said; “The suspects had along Ore axis successfully hijacked a trailer with registration number DTF437XA, loaded with about 900 bags of cements on its way from Ibese in Ogun State to Okitipupa in Ondo State.”

“But their successful operation was shortlived when, based on intelligence gathering, a team of policemen got wind of the operation and chased them.”

“7 among the 8 men were subsequently arrested by the police in their hideout. They have all confessed to their crime.”
