Troops kill four terrorists, recover arms in Sambisa forest ambush
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have neutralised four suspected terrorists and recovered weapons and logistics supplies during a targeted ambush operation in the Sambisa forest axis of Borno State.
According to a report by Zagazola Makama, the operation was carried out in the early hours of April 30 by troops of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade in collaboration with local vigilante forces.
Security sources disclosed that the troops acted on credible intelligence indicating insurgent movement through a known crossing point around the “Charlie Five” area. The team subsequently moved in to intercept the suspected fighters.
The sources said contact was established when the terrorists advanced from the Yale axis toward the Sambisa Forest, prompting troops to engage them with superior firepower.
Following the encounter, four terrorists were confirmed killed. Troops also recovered one AK-47 rifle loaded with 12 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
Additional items recovered at the scene included two bags of ground maize and a pack of spaghetti, believed to be part of the group’s food supplies.
The troops reportedly returned safely to base without casualties, while ongoing clearance and monitoring operations continue across the area.
Military authorities noted that the security situation within the axis remains relatively calm, with troops maintaining high morale and operational readiness as efforts continue to dismantle terrorist networks in the North-East.
