Troops Neutralize Over 20 Terrorists, Recover Arms in Week-Long Offensive Across North East
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), with close air support from the Air Component and assistance from local security outfits, have recorded major successes in counter-insurgency operations across the North East Theatre of Operations between 23 and 30 August 2025.
During the offensives, which covered areas including Gujba, Gubio, Sabsawa, Whumtakum in Chibok LGA, Mandarari in Konduga LGA, Gajigana in Magumeri LGA, Konduga, Banki and Loskori Kura in Mafa LGA, troops neutralized more than 20 JAS/ISWAP terrorists. Several logistics suppliers and collaborators linked to the groups were also arrested.
Recovered items included AK-47 rifles, rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) tubes and bombs, large quantities of 7.62mm ammunition, and other logistics materials. Troops also intercepted 242 bags of NPK fertilizer suspected to be intended for the production of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), which were subsequently neutralized.
According to military authorities, the sustained offensives have denied terrorists the freedom to operate while creating safer conditions for socio-economic activities in the region.
The military high command praised the troops for their resilience and assured them of continued support to sustain the momentum in the fight against insurgency.
