Troops of Operation Hadin Kai Neutralize 16 Terrorists in Damboa, Borno State

In the early hours of Thursday, May 23, 2025, troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) recorded a major success in the fight against insurgency, neutralizing 16 ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists in Damboa, Borno State.

At about 1:00 a.m., the troops sighted a group of terrorists attempting to advance towards a Brigade location in Damboa and promptly engaged them with sustained indirect fire. The swift and coordinated response was further reinforced by the deployment of air support to suppress the enemy’s advance.


After nearly two hours of fierce combat, the terrorists were forced to retreat, leaving behind several casualties. Sixteen of the insurgents were confirmed neutralized during the operation, while troops have since launched a follow-up pursuit to prevent regrouping.

During the exchange, an ammunition storage area was affected, but troops quickly brought the situation under control, preventing further escalation or damage.


Military authorities have commended the gallant efforts of the troops and reaffirmed their commitment to eradicating terrorism and restoring peace in the North-East.
