Troops Seize 22 Stray Cattle After Alleged Farmland Damage in Plateau Community
Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have taken custody of 22 stray cattle following reports of farmland destruction in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Zagazola Makama report that the troops, operating under Sector 6 and stationed in Dokku, responded to a distress call at about 4:30 p.m. on April 22 from residents of Jol village over suspected damage to farmlands.
Upon arrival, the troops reportedly discovered 22 cattle grazing unattended within the affected area, with no herder present at the scene.
The animals were subsequently secured and moved to a military location pending further action.
Sources added that efforts are underway to identify and locate the owner of the cattle, as well as establish any connection between the animals and the reported destruction of farms.
Meanwhile, Operation Enduring Peace continues to sustain patrols and surveillance across vulnerable communities in Plateau State, aimed at preventing further tensions linked to farmer-herder conflicts.
