Two Senior Terrorist Commanders Surrender to Troops, Provide Key Intelligence in North-East

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have recorded another major breakthrough in the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign following the surrender of two senior terrorist commanders, who are now providing valuable intelligence on insurgent operations.

The two surrendered commanders, identified as Munzirs within the terrorist group's leadership structure, reportedly surrendered to troops of Sector 2 in Geidam on July 4, 2026, before arriving in Maiduguri the following day. They are currently in military custody undergoing profiling, debriefing, and intelligence exploitation.

According to preliminary findings, the suspects held influential positions within the terrorist hierarchy and possess extensive knowledge of the group's command structure, operational activities, logistics, and support networks.

The military said information obtained from the ongoing debriefing has already provided critical intelligence expected to strengthen ongoing operations aimed at locating, disrupting, and dismantling remaining terrorist enclaves across the North-East.

Operation HADIN KAI described the surrender as another significant setback for the insurgents, attributing it to sustained military offensives, coordinated land and air operations, and enhanced intelligence-driven missions that have continued to degrade the group's combat capability and leadership structure.

The military noted that the increasing number of terrorist leaders and fighters surrendering reflects the growing pressure on insurgent groups and the gradual collapse of their operational network.

Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the offensive against terrorist elements across the North-East, stressing that troops will continue to exploit actionable intelligence, intensify military operations, and work closely with relevant stakeholders until lasting peace and security are restored in the region.
