UNKNOWN GUNMEN ASSASSINATE HUSBAND OF FORMER NAFDAC DG CHIKE AKUNYILI
Unknown gunmen have killed Dr Chike Akunyili, husband of late former Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof Dora Akunyili, at Umuoji in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State on Tuesday evening.
Sources say Akunyili, a medical doctor, was killed on Tuesday while commuting from Onitsha to Umuoji at Eke Nkpor. He was said to have been killed alongside his driver and police escort.
Eons Intelligence gathered that Akunyili had on Tuesday attended a lecture at Sharon Hall, All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha, which was organized by the University of Nigeria Nsukka Alumni Association (UNAA), Onitsha branch, in honour of his late wife, Prof Dora Akunyili.
The slain Doctor, who made nice comments about his late wife, Dora, donated N500,000 to the association. He was there with his son, Obum, who works with the Anambra State Government.
His wife, who was Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, died in June 2014 after a battle with cancer.
