WE ARE NOT GHOSTS- VICTIMS OF LEKKI SHOOTINGS APPEAR AT LAGOS JUDICIAL PANEL (VIDEO)

Adesina Ogunlana, a former Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) and the legal representatives of the #endsars protesters at the ongoing Lagos state judicial panel on Friday brought a bus filled with some of the victims injured during the Lekki shootings that took place on October 20, 2020.

Statements from one of the youth coordinators as reported by Editi Effiong who is monitoring the proceedings said, the witnesses were brought to show that the shooting was real and the victims are not ghosts.

Recall the Nigeria army denied shooting live ammunition at protesters at the Lekki toll plaza on the said date, a claim international media, CNN reported as untrue in a report showing evidence of casings of live ammunition fired at the scene.

The minister of information, Lai Mohammed has promised to sanction CNN’s report, labelling it as one-sided and untrue.

However, an eyewitness present at the incident restated that people died at the Lekki Toll Plaza on that night.

The protester identified as Dabira was the one on stage telling people to sit down when the shooting started.

Lifting an END SARS banner in front of the court building, Dabira said protesters were shot at and people died.

Below is an excerpt from her statement:

A massacre took place on the 20th 2020. And the reason why we are doing this is because we want to clear the doubts of the people out there.

People died, and people were shot at. I am a witness of that event. In this vehicle, we have people with amputated legs, people with brain surgery there, that were affected by the gunshots by the armies at the Lekki toll gate massacre.

This is real, people died. We still have dozens of people in the hospital that are yet to be discharged. We want justice for these people. Yes, they do not have a voice but we all that are still standing can stand for them and get justice for them. This is what is going on. Some of them have been discharged from the hospital prematurely. They were discharged prematurely without proper treatment. Without proper care, they just discharged them. Like this morning, we had to take two other people for an emergency this morning. Please Nigerians, this is real. We can’t afford to keep quiet, we all should amplify our voice and seek justice for them.
