COVID-19: GHANA PARLIAMENT SHUTS DOWN AFTER 17 LAWMAKERS AND 152 SUPPORT STAFF TEST POSITIVE FOR CORONAVIRUS

Lawmakers in Ghana have shut down parliament for three weeks after 17 members of parliament and 152 parliamentary support staff, tested positive for Coronavirus. 


Alban Bagbin, the speaker of the house, announced on Tuesday, that the legislature would go on recess until March 2 to make way for the "disinfection and sanitation of the premises."


“I have, in consultation with leadership, decided that the sitting of the House be adjourned for three weeks,” Bagbin said.

Ghana has so far reported 73,003 Coronavirus cases and 482 number of deaths.
