28 Suspects Arrested Over Yelwata Killings in Benue — IGP Egbetokun

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has confirmed the arrest of 28 suspects believed to be behind the recent killings in Yelwata, Benue State.


Speaking during a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, the IGP disclosed that the police are actively pursuing other individuals linked to the attack, which claimed the lives of 47 people.

Egbetokun assured Nigerians that the police remain in control of the security situation and are taking decisive steps to address the violence. According to him, security operatives are intensifying efforts to recover illegal light and small arms in circulation.


The police chief also revealed that border patrols have been reinforced to curb the influx of irregular migrants, which he described as a potential security threat.

Egbetokun reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to restoring peace and bringing all perpetrators of the Yelwata killings to justice.
