ASUU STRIKE: LABOUR BEGINS SOLIDARITY PROTEST.
Trade Unions and Professional bodies have commenced protest, against the prolonged ASUU strike in solidarity with NLC (National Day) today 26 July 2022
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has been at war with the Federal Government since February 14 over failure to honour some past agreements, among others.
For the past five months, the dispute has kept most public university students at home. Other university unions are also on strike due to disagreements with the federal government over various issues.
Amidst the Federal Government's appeals and the DSS's security alert, the NLC had opted to cancel the scheduled nationwide protest.
Recall that the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, had on Thursday last week appealed to the Nigeria Labour Congress to cancel its planned protest over the prolonged strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other university-based unions.
