THREE INJURED AS ARMED THUGS ATTACK CONVOY ATTACHED TO PDP CANDIDATE IN ONDO, EYITAYO JEGEDE
About three supporters of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State were brutally injured as armed thugs attacked the convoy attached to Eyitayo Jegede, PDP’s gubernatorial candidate.
This development comes barely two weeks before the Ondo governorship election slated for October 10, 2020.
The incident happened on Tuesday, September 29, at Ipele, in Owo Local Government Area when Jegede’s convoy visited the area for a campaign.
Samuel Fasua, spokesman for Eyitayo Jegede Campaign Organisation, confirming the attack, said the armed thugs blocked the entry points of the community and started attacking some of the campaign vehicles in Jegede's convoy.
Fasua identified the three party members injured as; Mr Amuda Sikiru, Mr Taye Akintufede, and Seun Ogunlade were brutally injured during the attack by the armed thugs.

He said, "These members were shot in the face and abdomen during our campaign rally in Owo town by the APC thugs but we have rushed them to the hospital.
"Our campaign vehicles were damaged, as was witnessed in the Oba-Akoko community recently and one of them was completely burnt down."The armed thugs were later dispersed by a joint team of the security agencies.”
Spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, Tee-Leo Ikoro, who also confirmed the attack, said the incident is currently being investigated.
Ikoro said the victims are currently receiving treatment at the State’s specialist hospital in Akure.
It is pertinent to mention that Eyitayo Jegede’s convoy was also attacked on September 16, 2020, at Oba Akoko Town.
The PDP gubernatorial candidate, who said 15 vehicles in his convoy were destroyed, described the attack as an assassination attempt on him.
