SECURITY OPERATIVES RE-ARREST INMATE WHO ESCAPED FROM PRISON IN JOS
Security operatives in Plateau State have rearrested a young man, Adam Yusuf, who escaped from the Jos Correctional Centre in the State capital.
The success was recorded by troops of Operation Safe Haven attached to Bisichi Area Command of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the State.
Commander of the Joint Task Force (JTF), Major General Chukwuemeka Okonkwo, confirmed that the 19-year-old inmate was re-arrested on Wednesday, August 19th, 2020.
Okonkwo said that Yusuf was one of the six notorious inmates that escaped at the High Court in Barkin Ladi on July 23rd, 2020.
He stated that the inmate was later arrested at an abandoned building in Bisichi village where he had been hiding since he escaped from the court premises.
The Commander said that the inmate confessed to being among the escapees, noting that concerted efforts were being made to rearrest the remaining escapees.
He appealed to residents of Bakin Ladi Local Government not to hesitate to provide useful information that would lead to the re-arrest of the remaining inmates still at large.
Recall that Eons Intelligence reported on August 11th, 2020 that a serial killer in Ibadan, Sunday Shodipe, escaped from police custody weeks after he was arrested.
Shodipe allegedly killed five persons during his attacks on residents in Akinyele Local Government in June.
The victims of the serial killings include 18-year old Barakat Bello; a pregnant woman, Azeezat Shomuyiwa; a 21-year old student, Grace Oshiagwu, Olusayo Fagbemi, and a 5-year old boy identified as Mujeeb.
On Wednesday, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, deployed special forces to assist the Oyo State Police Command in re-arresting the fugitive.
