BUKAYO SAKA SET FOR PAY RISE DESPITE ARSENAL'S PLANS TO CUT WAGES
Arsenal youngster, Bukayo Saka, is set for a significant pay rise in a new contract. This comes after arsenal announced plans to cut players wages due to the coronavirus outbreak.
After a meeting between the board and the players, the club is set to agree on a plan for players to take a 12.5 percent pay cut due to bad revenue caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite this agreement being made, 18-year-old Saka, who has enjoyed an impressive break-out season at the Emirates, will earn significantly more than his current £5,000-a-week wages when the new deal is signed.
The London-born winger, who has been immense at left-back this season, has been a shining star for the football club in what has been a challenging season for them.
However, it is pertinent to note that contract talks between the Club’s Board and Saka has been on-going before the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic. He is now set to extend his deal that is due to expire in June 2021.
Saka’s is gradually flourishing into a star. He is very quick and direct. This has attracted interest from Manchester United, but manager Mikel Arteta remains confident of securing the youngster’s long-term future.
“The club is doing what it has to do and is having conversations. Hopefully we’ll get it resolved,” Arteta said.
