PIRATE ATTACK: PASSENGERS BOAT ESCAPED ATTACK IN CLEAR WATER
A passenger boat was able to fend off a pirate attack whilst underway from Brass to Yenogoa, in a clear water, on Saturday, 18th April.
Report confirmed that the armed pirates chased and fired upon the boat. A passenger was shot and injured as the struggle to hijack the boat persisted.
In quest of escaping after being shot, the injured passenger along side another passenger jumped into the water and were subsequently abducted.
Consequently, an alarm was raised, activated distress alert, a gun boat was sent on a rescue mission, resulting in the pirates aborting the attempted attack and abducted passengers were abandoned whilst the pirates fled into a nearby swamp.
The crew and passengers were reported safe.
