BAUCHI CRISIS: POLICE SUSPEND CURFEW AS DIRECTED BY STATE GOVERNMENT


Bauchi State Police Command has suspended the curfew imposed by the state government on Yelwa Tsakani, Kagadama, and Lushi areas in the Bauchi Local Government Area of the state following the violence that broke out leaving three people dead and many injured.




Available report indicates that many houses, cars, motorcycles and properties worth millions of naira were also destroyed in the unfortunate incident that occurred on Friday, May 27, 2022.



As measures to stop an escalation and prevent any reprisals, the Bauchi State Government, through the Chief of Staff, Government House, Aminu Gamawa, announced in a statement, the imposition of a 24-hour curfew on the three communities.



After three days, the government, in another media statement signed by the Chief of Staff, Gamawa, relaxed the curfew by 12 hours – from 6 pm – 6 am.



Exactly two weeks later, the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Umar Sanda, announced the suspension of the 12-hour curfew.



This was contained in a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, a Superintendent of Police.
