BREAKING: GOVERNOR AKEREDOLU SUSPENDS NURTW INDEFINITELY IN ONDO STATE
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has ordered the indefinite suspension of activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the State.
Eons Intelligence had earlier reported that two persons were feared dead and several vehicles were vandalized as two NURTW factions clashed in Oja Oba area of Akure.
The Governor ordered that all NURTW members are to immediately vacate all motor parks across the state.
Akeredolu, who made the announcement via his Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties and strategy, Dr Doyin Odebowale, said the indefinite suspension would not affect the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN).
He said the decision to suspend NURTW activities indefinitely was based on the unruly and uncultured behavior of the union leaders, stressing that the violent attacks on members and innocent residents were unacceptable.
Recall that Akeredolu had last week said the suspension of NURTW and RTEAN activities in motor parks would only last for two weeks.
