COALITION OF NORTHERN GROUPS THREATEN TO PROTEST OVER ABDUCTION OF STUDENTS IN KATSINA

The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has threatened to protest if the Government fails to rescue the abducted students at Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina.

This comes three days after gunmen stormed the Government Science Secondary School, in Kankara community, Katsina State, abducting about 300 students in the process.

Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, the Northwest Coordinator of the Coalition, in a press briefing with newsmen in Katsina vowed that thousands of protesters would hit the street if the school pupils are not rescued as soon as possible.

He said; “Failure of the government to rescue the missing students within the shortest period of time, CNG will not hesitate to mobilise hundreds of thousands on the streets of Katsina State on a series of protest until the students are fully rescued.

“This will happen even if it’s going to cost us our lives,” Charanchi said.

The group also slammed President Muhammadu Buhari for not visiting the affected school, despite being in the state for a private visit.

The group stated that the attack on the school exposes the weakness of the Government and its complete negligence of the educational sector in the Northern region.

It added that the action of the Government is ‘inhumane, insensitive, ungodly and barbaric’, and called for immediate deployment of security personnel to all secondary schools within the State.

It is pertinent to mention that the Katsina State Government immediately ordered the closure of all boarding schools in the State.
