COURT SENTENCES TRICYCLE OPERATOR WHO ASSAULTED FRSC PERSONNEL TO THREE MONTHS IMPRISONMENT
A tricycle operator, Mr. Adeshina Adeyemo, who assaulted a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) personnel in July 2020 has been sentenced to three months imprisonment by a Magistrate Court in Benin City, Edo State.
In a statement by Bisi Kazeem, FRSC spokesperson, Adeyemo assaulted the FRSC personnel and stripped him naked along the Benin-Sapele road.
He said Adeyemo was arraigned before Magistrate F. Ojehumen of the Evbuoriaria Magistrate Court on a two-count charge bordering on conducting himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of public peace, and for maliciously damaging FRSC patrol vehicle during patrol operations along Sapele-Benin road on 16 July 2020.
The spokesperson said the accused is to pay the sum of N5000 or one-month imprisonment, and N41000 or two months imprisonment for the second charge and both sentences are to run at the same time.
Kazeem said Adeyemo could not meet the option of a fine and has been taken into custody at the Nigerian Correctional centre in Benin City.
