COVID-19: KWARA STATE GOVERNOR SACKS DRIVER, SANCTIONS HEALTH WORKERS FOR MISHANDLING CASE (VIDEO)
AbdulRaham AbdulRazaq, Governor of Kwara State has ordered the sack of a Government driver for using COVID-19 ambulance to evacuate an unkempt person without PPE.
This is contained in a statement, signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye on Wednesday, May 13.
In a viral video, the driver of the ambulance with the help of members of the public evacuated a man who looks sick without waiting for the arrival of the Rapid Response Team.
Aside that, the driver and his helpers were not fully protected, which exposes them to possible infection.
The Governor also directed the issuance of queries to top officials of the State Ministry of Health for not taking professional caution in handling the incident.
The Governor reiterated that those present at the scene violated all COVID-19 safety measures; such as physical distancing and wearing of facemask.
The State Government described the incident as an unacceptable one.
The Governor hereby apologized to residents of the State for the embarrassing development and assured them it will not repeat itself.
