COVID-19 PATIENT WHO ESCAPED FROM ISOLATION CENTRE RETURNS, SURRENDERS FAMILY MEMBERS
A COVID-19 patient who fled after he tested positive for coronavirus has returned and surrendered himself alongside his family members to the COVID-19 treatment facility in Aba.
This was contained in a statement signed and issued by the State Commissioner for Information, Okeiyi Kalu on Saturday, May 30.
The patient, name withheld, fled from the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) on Thursday, May 28 having heard that he tested positive for coronavirus.
Kalu said the patient returned to the facility early in the morning of Saturday with his wife and other family members.
He added that the patient and his family members were taken to the State Specialist Hospital and Diagnostic centre where they will be tested for Coronavirus.
According to Kalu, the Rapid Response Team has started contact tracing in case the escaped patient had had contact with anyone.

He added that the contact tracing will avert any form of community transmission of the disease.
Kalu stated that three patients currently receiving treatment at the isolation centre would be discharged on Saturday as they have tested negative twice to COVID-19.
