COVID-19 SECOND WAVE: KANO GOVERNMENT ORDERS CIVIL SERVANTS TO STAY AT HOME, BANS ACTIVITIES OF EVENT CENTRES
Kano State government has directed all civil servants in the State to stay at home pending further instruction following the increase in COVID-19 cases.
It also announced the imposition of a fresh ban on the activities of viewing and event centres across the state.
Malam Muhammad Garba, State commissioner for information, who disclosed the directive in a statement on Tuesday morning said the measure was part of decision at a stakeholders meeting held at the Africa House, Kano on Monday night.
Malam Garba however explained that workers on essential services such as the healthcare service providers, fire service, water board, teaching staff, security guards and the media are exempted from the ban.

The commissioner reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to working with relevant stakeholders that included the Ulama to ensure strict compliance with COVID-19 Protocols.
He also warned that security agents who were part of the stakeholders meeting would not hesitate to take stern measures to ensure compliance with the directive.
Reports made available by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) show clearly that Kano State is one of the top 10 most affected states in Nigeria.
As at Monday, January 18, the Northern Nigeria state has recorded 2,617 confirmed cases out of a total of 112, 004 cases in the nation.
Kano State has reported 2,224 recoveries and 70 deaths so far.
