THREE PSG PLAYERS TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID-19

Paris Saint-German has announced that three of its players have tested positive for COVID-19 in their latest testing.


The French club disclosed this in a statement via its twitter handle on Wednesday, August 2, saying that the affected players (names withheld) are currently on treatment.


“Three PSG_English players are confirmed positive after a Sars CoV2 test and have undergone the appropriate health protocols.


“All players and staff will continue to be tested over the next few days,” it tweeted.

The club had earlier announced on Monday that two unnamed players showed coronavirus symptoms.


“Two Paris Saint-Germain players are suspected of being infected with Covid-19. The state of their health is very reassuring. They have already been subjected to the appropriate health protocols,” according to the Monday statement.


When contacted, the club failed to reveal the identities of the players, according to Reuters, however French sports daily L’Equipe reported the players in question were Neymar, Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes.


French sports daily said the players could be Argentinian duo Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes, because they spent their holidays together in Ibiza.


Psg is set to defend their Ligue 1 title at Racing Lens on September 10th, 2020.

The rules in the French Ligue say that any team that has four cases of COVID-19 must have their training sessions cancelled, and matches postponed.


Recently, several top clubs in France have reported positive tests for COVID-19, including Lyon, Marseille, Rennes, Nantes, and Montpellier.


Marseille's game against Saint-Etienne on August 21st, which was set to be the season opener, was postponed.
