The Niger State Government on Thursday, December 17, directed all civil servants in the State to stay at home from December 21.

This development comes on the heels of reports indicating that there is a surge in the number of COVID-19 infections recorded in Nigeria.

The Head of Service stated that the directive however excludes workers on essential services.

As of December 17, according to the NCDC, Niger State has recorded 302 cases of COVID-19, with 12 deaths.

The Benue, Kano, Jigawa, and Kaduna State Governments have also ordered the immediate shutdown of all schools due to the rising cases of Coronavirus.
